My First Editing Session
Today in our Media Studies lesson we got to edit our
material from last week’s filming session. The lesson began with a brief introduction from
our teacher on the software that we were going to use, ‘Premier Pro’. Before
starting, we were firstly given the basic instructions on how to use the
software as well as being shown an example made by our teacher on our material
so we could have a basic idea on what we would be able to achieve. After being
put into pairs, my partner Ollie and I made a short sequence from our material. To
begin with I found the process a bit difficult to piece the clips together because
of the slotting of the timings but after I got the hang of it I felt quite
confident with using the software. I especially enjoyed having to use my
imagination for what I wanted to see on screen, from my experience of 16 years of watching film and TV, to be able to create our video as both my partner and I had precise
ideas on what we thought would work best. We were therefore able to work together easily to incorporate both of our
ideas to make a detailed and interesting video. We began developing
more detail onto our edit until we were happy with our cuts and transitions. From our large
number of shots from our previous lesson I felt we had the benefit of the widest range of possibility’s with our material. Overall I found the lesson extremely interesting
and helpful in my understanding of Editing.
